Ariel Pink returns with a new album - this time without Haunted Graffiti. So "pom pom" is a kind of solo album, but again not really

"Even though it's my first solo album, it doesn't feel like it. I had countless friends in the studio who played along with the songs," says Ariel Pink

"pom pom" (note the lower case) has become the squeaky colorful mixtape of a daydreaming pop prince. It wanders back and forth between psychedelic, jazzy and wonderfully silly moments and reminds us a little bit of the great work of the indie-funbirds of Ween: "The Mollusk"

Here a frog croaks, there a choir and in the middle Ariel Pink as the Willy Wonka of Indie Pop. Songs like "Plastic Raincoats in The Pig Parade", "Nude Beach A G-Go" or "Exile On Frog Street" (the song with the frog) are as great as they are insane.
